I agree with Katie, and it's not for the reasons of the fact that I like Slowey. I think Slowey is a fabulous pitcher. I think he's probably having to make some adjustments with his surgery. I think that there's a good possibility that the screws in his wrist that is leading to his change in his pitching this year. I think by the all-star break he'll be good and back in his fine form! I think putting him in the bullpen would slow him down and not be good for him.

Katie, thanks for your comment.

We could devote an entire post to the Kevin Slowey issue (and a lot of other bloggers have, lately). I like Slowey. I was at the game in Oakland a couple years back when he made his MLB debut . I still have hopes that he's going to be a very successful starting pitcher for the Twins.

But he's really not pitching well right now and I think it might do him some good to take a break from the rotation and let the Twins see what they have in Duensing (who's been pitching very well). I'm not sure I agree that Slowey "deserves" his spot in the rotation right now, but I do believe the Twins will NEED him to be a starting pitcher as this season goes along. I'd be hoping a little break would allow him to start missing more bats and getting through more innings when he pitches.

I have to beg to differ with you on one thing, Kevin is a starter not a relief pitcher. He deserves to be a starter just as much as everyone else. He's having a rough year, everyone has them. Look at Frankie last season or the season before that. Slowey deserves to be a starter, not a bull pen member.
