I totally agree with you about the July 16, 1969 item. Actually, Dave Wright dedicated almost 2 full pages to that game in his terrific &quot;162-0&quot; book (link at the bottom of the post) and I had to leave even more details about that game out of the post, for the sake of brevity.

In all likelihood, however, Carew&#039;s accomplishment probably got little notice by anyone except die hard baseball fans. Seems there was an event down in Florida that day that got most of the nation&#039;s (and perhaps the world&#039;s) attention. It was on July 16, 1969 that Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins and Neil Armstrong lifted off from their launch pad in Apollo 11... four days before Armstrong made his &quot;one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind&quot; on to the moon.]]></description>
