James, I won't even pretend that I'm a "minor league expert", but the only 1B in the Twins organization that I can think of off the top of my head that would be considered a true prospect is Chris Parmalee. He was the Twins first round pick back in 2006, but he's just in AA at New Britain this year. Glancing at his numbers @ NB (.273/.340/.387 6 HR), it looks to me like he's hitting for a better average than he has in some previous years but without the same power. I think he had a reputation for being decent defensively, but I honestly don't know much more about him. Obviously, though, he's nowhere near ready for the Bigs right now.

Erik Lis (who's at Rochester) is another guy that has been highly regarded at times, but last I heard, he was projecting primarily as a DH-type because his defense was pretty ugly.

Brock Peterson has been Rochester's primary 1B and he spent most of Spring Training in the Major League camp. He's not on the 40-man roster so if they decided to bring him up when rosters expand, they'd have to make room for him on the 40-man roster some how. He hasn't hit particularly well for average and he strikes out way too much, but at least he's hit some home runs at Rochester.

Realistically, if the Twins determine that Morneau is not going to be returning, I think Peterson is probably the only option in their organization to back up Cuddyer at 1B.

maybe the minor league experts can answer this, but do the Twins have a viable 1B option in the minors? someone who can hit .270, jack of a few dongers, and play slightly above average defense?
