man, Jason Werth would look awesome in those retro jerseys the Twins wear (never gonna happen though)

Mahay and Flores will not be back with the team next year. We got Slama to give games away.
I really believe (maybe I shouldnt set myself for disappointment) the Twins will swing a trade with some team and it will involve Kubel, Perkins, and Slowey/Baker/Duensing. This trade will not be for Zach Greinke but for some other strikeout pitcher and a speedster in return. You wont hear about it until the trade is made because that is how the Twins work (I mean, how many 'insiders' had the Twins sniffing around Pavano. The Gomez/Hardy trade came out of nowhere)

I also think they will negotiate with Hardy to get his salary down a bit. He is kind of valuable to the Twins because (when healthy) is steady in the field and the Twins dont really have anyone to take over. But he is not worth $6 mil like he got this year

The Twins will keep either Crain or Guerrier, but not both. I am leaning towards them keeping Crain because they dont have strikeout guys in the pen but have about a dozen Guerrier-lites (Burnett, Manship, other minor leaguers)

I think fans should give up any hope of getting Greinke. A inter-division Stud player for good prospects in return trade like that does not pass my smell test. Smells more like columnists and writers bored and flinging poo to the wall

It's perfectly fine to dream, Steve. I'm conjuring up a dream that involves Zach Grienke in a Twins uniform, myself... and Jason Werth, while we're at it. But then there's that pesky money issue again. And even if the Twins let most, if not all, of their non-guaranteed contract folks walk away, they still have to field 25 guys on the roster somehow. The Rochester Red Wings were pretty bad this year... I'm not sure even adding Lee or Grienke would be enough to turn the Twins' minimum wage guys in to winners. We'll have to keep thinking of a way to make it all work out.

Cliff Lee! I know it's a LONG shot, but wouldn't it be amazing to sign him? He's said that he LOVES pitching AGAINST the Yankees, so it would be somewhat of a fit, right? The Twins could hand him the ball every game against the pinstripers!

5 years, 18 mil per - decline Kubel's option, non-tender Hardy and Capps, let Crain, Guerrier, and Rauch walk. That should free up enough cash to bring him on the payroll and still have a few dollars for Thome and a bunch of minor leaguers.

The advantage of getting a guy like Lee is you know you're going to get 7 innings from him just about every time out, plus it gives the Twins 3 lefties in the rotation.

One can dream, can't he?
