I really do not want to see Manny in a Twins uniform, even if he somehow were to return closer to form, and I have doubts about Guerrero, at least from the standpoint that he might be looking for more money than Thome.
Although I hope the Twins don’t overspend to get Thome, $4-5 million seems acceptable, and I really would like to see him hit # 600 as a Twin. Plus, we know exactly what we are getting from him. He cannot run or field, and he will strike out about 30 percent of the time. But he is also one of just a few players on the team that can be a difference-maker every single plate appearance (as in a difference maker that has the potential to score a runner from first base). That is an intangible, but it certainly is worth something.
