Baker has been the best the Twins have had this season, for sure. That's why his elbow tenderness was so alarming. This team needs him to stay healthy and effective to have any chance of competing down the stretch.

Has anyone else noticed that Baker has quietly snuck up on a 2.88 ERA? When was the last time a Twins pitcher pitched this far into the year with that kind of ERA? It would have been Santana, right? Remember when Liriano finished that 2006 campaign with an ERA just a bit lower than that? Yet Scooty has done it so quietly, it's gone nearly unnoticed.

Gotta love the stealth weapon.

I thought this was one of the best games played this year by the Twins. Pitching was solid for 9 innings. Damn good defense by the Home Team and zero errors. Timely hitting put some runs on the board but they really should have won this game 8-1 or 9-1 or even 10-1. Twins shoulda knocked all the spare change out of Penny's pocket. A much needed win.
