jb, obviously the Wisconsin/Iowa game was one of the fatalities. In the articles I linked to, it sure reads like Alvarez tried hard to keep that game in place... harder than the Iowa people did.

Maybe it's because I lived in both Minn and Iowa growing up, but that's the only "rivalry" I have ever had any attachment to. The Wisconsin game, to me, was never any bigger than any other B10 game. It was big if both teams were good, but not so big when they weren't.

I've hated the mid-November to early-December stretch because no B10 games were being played and we had to read/listen to how great the SEC and Big12 teams were for 3 weeks straight. That shouldn't be the case any more and I'm looking forward to seeing how this new alignment works out.

While it will be fun to see the Nebraska-Iowa rivalry develop, I'm still grieving Big 10 expansion and breaking into divisions. Hate it, Hate it, Hate it. And will absolutely miss the Wisconsin rivalry.

Yea, I think I'll scour Ebay in a few weeks after people have overpaid for them. By the way, the Rock Cats just did a Danny Valencia bobblehead giveaway, and because no one goes to the games, you can purchase it for $9.99 online now.

I confess that the Hrbek/Gant bobblehead promotion is a part of my incentive to drive up this weekend. Yes, I'm a closet bobblehead fan. It took all of my self-control to keep from spending almost $400 for the "complete set" of 1991 bobbleheads when they went on sale a couple weeks ago.

Assuming I'm one of the first 10,000 fans in the gates and I get one of the prized bobbleheads, it will end up in one of two places... either on the shelf above my fireplace (alongside my autographed Mauer, Morneau and Nathan bobbleheads) or at my son's house in the bedroom that his wife has graciously allowed him to turn in to a sports memorabilia shrine of sorts.

Of course, I can't guarantee I won't offer someone a bit of cash for his/her bobblehead on the way out of the game Friday night, so that Hrbie and Gant end up in both homes. It's been known to happen before.

If you are going to the weekend games, I think the most important question becomes what prominent location in your house will the beloved Hrbek-Gant bobblehead be displayed? It would be great to not be "afar" for the '91 weekend.
