Reading some of the Bill Smith comments from the fan conference call, it’s like he got almost to the point of accountability, but not quite. I just wanted to hear him say something like, “Trading JJ Hardy wasn’t the best move, looking back on it.” Or, “it proved to be impossible to adequately reconstruct the bullpen after letting the 3 bullpen arms get away in free agency.” Just something saying “It’s my fault; at least part of it.”
