Honestly, there are quite a few guys I could name that riled me up when he set foot on that turf. However, nobody made me angrier than Ponson. Tony Bautista is a close second. I'd rather like to be able to forget that either of them donned the Twins uniform, but unfortunately there isn't enough brainbleach out there to help.

Let's not forget J."F."C. Romero, either, or Kyle Lohse. Silva had his rage-inducing moments, the Crain Train turned into the Crain Drain, and Mike Lamb was pretty worthless overall (though I never hated him with the vitriol reserved for the aforementioned players). And yes, Rivas. Always Rivas.

(I just realized how many of my "most disliked" are pitchers. LOL. Sorry, Bert.)

Thanks Jim. I was a regular commenter on Batgirl, so I recognize you all. Just lost track of you for awhile.

Sorry if this is not PC, but wasn't the problem with Luis Rivas that he got fat?

If I'm not mistaken, we signed him at 16 from our Venezuela camp. (Is that still there?) He was on commercials with Guzman the year we finally got good again. Remember, we only saw photos of the backs of their legs - because they were so fast?

He could always turn the double plays. And he had some pop, which was nice. (Took the sting out of the Knoblauch trade.) But then he beefed up, and his ability to go to his backhand - already challenged - diminished to one or two steps.

Funny... as I was reading the original Bleacher Report article, Herr came to my mind, too. I hated that trade when it was made and Herr did absolutely nothing to make me like it (or him) any better once he got to Minnesota. Then, when I got around to drafting the Knuckleballs post, Herr never entered my mind. Thanks for reminding me, Craig.

And welcome to Knuckleballs... glad you found us. We're actually a lot more fun around here during the season, though! Hope you keep coming back.

I always just looked at Rivas as the epitome of mediocrity. I didn't hate him, but certainly agreed that the Twins should have been looking to upgrade sooner than they finally did. He was just "there".

I'm sure Andrew and Mark represent the vast majority of Twins fans, though, in their "support" for Chuck. He certainly did nothing to deter people from feeling that way about him. I just find it somewhat sad that he reached the level of play that he did and has ended up wanting to so totally and completely distance himself from anything related to Major League Baseball.

Sorry, just found your blog. Great fun. Yes, leave Knoblauch alone. He was on the WS team and our only true all star during a dark period. Plus he was great trade bait.

Isn't the obvious candidate Tommy Herr? We traded him in 1988 for Tom Brunansky and he turned out to be a whining bust. I'll never forget seeing a sign comparing him to the second baseman he replaced, "Lombo, we want himm."

That would be an excellent logo if the team were the Miami Matadors, brought to you by ActiVision for the Atari 6400.

For what it's worth, my least favorite Twin probably always will be Luis Rivas. A poor hitter who really didn't have much range in the field, either, yet the Twins kept running him out there, year after year, because he'd stolen 31 bases as a rookie and Gardy really liked the way he turned the double play (which the local press mentioned constantly). There have been other bad players to wear the Twins uniform, and there will be more, some of them worse than Rivas, but I hope it's a long while before the Twins give such a player a starting job for FOUR AND A HALF YEARS. That's what really got me.

I'll go with Knoblauch, if only to not strain my brain. As for Miami, someone needs a crash course in graphic design, and someone else should be fired for paying for that swindle of a product (and I thought Montana State University was stupid for hiring a firm to rip off the Mariners logo when we had a great graphic design program on campus).
