Cabrera did have a season that should be considered a “bright spot” for Cleveland fans. At the time I wrote the passage you quoted, my mind was already focused on their rotation, but I should have acknowledged Cabrera’s season. He stepped up his game and, while I don’t think he’s an offensive wonder, he certainly did well compared to just about anyone else who plays the same position. I know I’d love to have him (or someone just like him) on the Twins right now.
