There’s a chance that he will be the starting 1B during the season, but he could also be the DH, in which case it’s likely that Chris Parmelee will get called up and be the everyday 1B. In this scenario, Ryan Doumit is the back-up catcher and there is no need to have Drew Butera on the 25-man roster.

Two dingers sounds a lot more like the ‘old’ Morneau. Spring is historically not his strong suit, so I’m hoping he’s just announcing with his bat that he is now ready to start the season. I am bothered by the fact that he’s not playing 1st base, though.
