Hey, a little respect for the 10th best team in the American League!!!!

Seriously, to get swept by Seattle when Felix didn't pitch has to sting. I was at the game on Friday. Apart from the inning when the Twins left the bases loaded, I never felt like they were a threat to score a bunch of runs. Even when Mauer & Willingham hit their solo shots, I figured the lower half of the lineup couldn't keep the rally going. Lotta scrubs playing for MN right now.

Span is not even taking live BP, so his return to the line up is a few days away, yet. So once again, the Twins will have played a man short for at least 110-12 days and even if Span returns then, it means they'll have played short for a week and a half in order to have Span back 3-5 days sooner than if he'd been put on the DL.

The season is lost anyway, so I'm not as frustrated this time as I would be at a time when the season still means something. Parmelee is still contributing daily to the Red Wings fleeting playoff hopes and I'm fine with letting that play out. Nevertheless, this is one more example of pretty shaky injury/DL/roster management by the front office. If it was the first time this happened, that would be one thing... but it is far from it.

except that we have now had over a week with no Span and no one on the bench to fill that spot - it's ridiculous.

" isn’t that what the DL is for?"

No, its a 15 day DL, which means that Span couldn't play for another week. If he was put on the DL, the roster spot would go to someone who would mostly sit on the bench. So do you give up an extra week of Span for a guy who has no role? I don't think so.
