Some have mentioned that Ullger played 1B, but both guys have been professional coaches for a very long time and I’m sure they know a bit about how to play just about every position but pitcher and catcher. Jerry White had responsibility for positioning outfielders, so I assume Ullger will do that now. I imagine he can do so just fine.

If… and it’s a big if… their roles as Gardy’s consultants concerning in-game strategy are being reduced, that’s more important to me. God knows, someone new needs to be in his ear during games.

I also cringe at the thought of Ullger back coaching a base.. *sigh* but at least I don’t think this is one of those positions that is on “track” to take over as manager. Also, I’m curious about the double duties they will possess with Vavra coaching infielders and Ullger coaching outfielders – which they retain those announced reassignments in addition to the base-coaching spots. Anyone else have a better idea about how those will coincide?
