Jeremy, I'm not enough of an expert on the rest of the organization to judge whether their Class A catching is weaker than any position elsewhere, but it's clearly the weak link in Cedar Rapids. That might be a bit concerning, given how strong the pitching could be here.

I don't know any more about the rookie level catchers than what I can see on their stat lines and bios, but it's pretty hard to see that Altobelli or Cross have shown much to make us think they'll push Rodriguez and Arias. That could be one reason the Twins are working with Grimes behind the plate, I guess. I haven't heard anything yet about how he looked in Instructs, have you? I do think you're right about him likely staying in Ft Myers for a while, anyway.

If anyone does push those three for time in CR this season, I would bet on Santy, I guess, just because it looks like he at least knows which end of the bat to grip anyway.

JC,

I just checked out my projections and they look pretty similar. Part of me wonders if Grimes will be held back, regardless, to get in a lot of extra work. Being 1 of 3 he's not going to get a ton of reps and catching the back fields might be more productive, though neither Arias or Rodriguez appear overly deserving of being a "starter". You wonder if a guy like Altobelli or Cross has it in them to make the leap.

If I had to place money on what will happen, I'd say Arias and Rodriguez to start the year. Grimes comes up later (May?) and Rodriguez is out of the organization with Altobelli a call away in case or injury or ineffectiveness.

Is it a stretch to say that this may be the weakest position of any affiliate?
