I’m glad enough that I got to WATCH the end of last night’s game because it was pretty much a classic Twins ending. I really do wish the boys didn’t always have to make everything so dramatic though. Today, I would appreciate if our boys took advantage of the fact that it’s not raining yet and hit early and often so as to not need extra innings this afternoon. Please?

I have definitely enjoyed afternoon baseball more than this in the past… There was quite a bit of discussion in the digital world before the game started that the team was trying to get Liriano to “pitch to contact” a bit more in an effort to extend his outtings to more innings… I don’t really think that particular method workd for Liriano – at least not today.
We did get to hitting early but once again, the LOB monster struck again.. I really do have to get Kbro to make that shirt for me. The Twins aren’t scoring many runs this year but they are hitting more than it looks like.. the numbers of LOB are purely ridiculous.
But I’m hoping that as hits pick up, so will runs.. seems like a numbers game to me and it’s early. Besides, we’re still doing better than the Red Sox right? I think?
Holy cow, a first inning, no-out run??
Man… I was going to go to a place for lunch where I could watch some of the game but I figured I didn’t have to go until the 3rd inning, because the Twins never score sooner than that!
Time for Liriano’s meltdown inning I guess.
Is anyone else getting a little tired of the excuses people put out there for Liriano? He’s unlucky. He doesn’t get good defense behind him. His coaches tell him to pitch to contact and not try to strike everyone out. If he tries to strike people out, he also walks too many and can’t go more than 5 innings. If he pitches to contact, he gets knocked around and doesn’t survive more than 5 innings. Maybe, at some point, you have to just say, “he’s not good at pitching right now.”
Right now I’m hoping there aren’t archived comments from me this winter attacking the front office for failing to sign Liriano long-term. Let’s just say he’s got a lot to prove if he thinks he’s destined to be a #1 starter for any team.
Liriano has to be able to walk the line, like effective pitchers do, between knowing when you have your “A” stuff and can go for strikeouts, and when you have your “C” game and have to hit the corners. God bless them, the Twins certainly have been patient.
I’m tired as well, JC. F-bomb, do your darn exercises when they tell you to! >C
maybe Liriano would be better has a reliever
I have been being more and more convinced of this over the last couple seasons James. I think he would be one SCARY MOTHER as a relief pitcher but yeah.. I think it might be time to start thinking that way for him.
