ST – Blue Jays @ Twins, 12:05 pm, MLB.tv & am1500

So that start time is a little bit of a lie because the game is currently in a Rain Delay.  However, game play is expected to begin shortly.  However, the full out thunderstorm did change some things as the Twins decided to pull a few of their starters out of the lineup, likely due to field conditions, including Jim Thome, Nishioka and Delmon Young who was supposed to make his A team debut today.  At any rate, these are things that baseball knows how to handle and the game should get going any time now.

The team felt a little tired out there today but it was still an interesting game.  Great to see Nathan have another solid outing. Blackburn did ok but gave up a couple long shots. Luke Hughes looked great – again – which is definitely speaking well for him so far. Butera continued to look good behind the plate if not so hot at the plate.  It was a pretty typical spring training game actually.  I guess those happen.

  1. wow, Luke Hughes is really making a case to be our bench bat instead of Tolbert this season.. nice RBI’s man.

  2. Just found a moment to peek in at GameDay… looks like Blackie’s getting knocked around a bit.

Yeah, Babs, Hughes looks determined to make it as tough as possible for Gardy to leave him behind when they go north. He’s hitting the ball well off of MLB-level pitchers and doing it in every kind of situation… men on base… two outs… whatever. If he keeps it up, I’m not sure how they justify keeping Tolbert over him.

  3. ok, a triple from Kubes isn’t something you’re going to see every day… LOL

  4. I hate not having gameday yet.. come on tax rebate…. but yay for Kubes hitting a triple! and I like Luke Hughes. Obviously haven’t been able to watch him but from what I’ve been reading Gardy’s gonna have a really tough time..

  5. we’ll do GameChats for weekend & evening games or ones with TV broadcasts because the weekday noon games have too few people able to get away from their schedules.

  6. and Brian – sorry it wasn’t showing your posts right away. It put them in the “check on this” pile so I found it today. I wonder if it’s the yahoo address or something.
