GameChat – Brewers @ Twins, 7:10pm

and the Interleague border battle continues – now with DH!

I don’t remember ever having a match up like this that does a 4 game series in shared stadiums…  at any rate, it’s a perfect day for baseball in Minnesota!

Milwaukee 0 1 0 0 0 0 3 0 0 4 6 1
Minnesota 0 0 0 3 1 0 2 0 x 6 10 0

That’s two in a row, boys and girls!

Ricky was cruising there through 6 innings, but it was really nice to see the bats answer Milwaukee’s big inning with a crooked number of their own.

We decided BOD honors go to Oswaldo Arcia, but the Hammer gets some pastries, which seems appropriate for that “roll” that he made in to home plate in the 7th. – JC

it’s getting kind of sad that I never get to watch baseball lately – I get teased by the nightly lineups and never getting to see what they can do until I get to check the boxscores later..

And that will be me again tonight.. Let’s hope it’s good news when I get home!

Milwaukee 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 1 4 8 1

Perk made it a little bit dramatic there in the ninth, but got the door closed with a 3-pitch whiff of Go-Go.

It’s really nice to see Hammer be The Hammer again, isn’t it? But Brian Dozier went yard, too, and he also was 3 for 3 on the night. That makes him our BOD. – JC

and we’re back in inter-league play!

I’ve always enjoyed our matchups against the Brewers – although much more when JJ Hardy was on or the other teams. Give the high the boys must be on having won the series in NY, I’ll be curious to see if that translates into momentum for a nice winning streak or if it means they struggle to sustain that energy level.

I’d like to see Gibson repeat his stellar performances though.

I didn’t see or hear any of this game, but I’m curious how you rack up 12 hits and don’t manage to push more than 2 runs across the plate.

Ah well, back at it Tuesday. – JC

GameChat – Rangers @ Twins #4, 12:10pm

Yes, it was a huge bummer that the Twins couldn’t pull off a win (even a walk-off) in honor of my birthday attendance last evening but at least it was a phenomenal night for baseball and we really had a good time. I will say this since it was my first time physically in attendance this season – all joking aside, give extra time to get through security than you are used to. The stuff they had added for the All-Star game (metal detectors and the whole shebang) really slows things down and makes lines much longer.

Today is every bit as nice so for those who can get away from work (not me) and get to be outside (not me) to enjoy a little baseball (again, not me), you will have a marvelous time.

Let’s hope Deduno can keep things on line enough (or just NOT enough) to get the Twins a win today!

So my hubby is taking me out to the game with Baby Girl for her first Twins game and to celebrate my bday! I can’t believe it took me as long as it did to decide on the game for my special little bit of free time!

I don’t think he was surprised by the request at all.. after all, this is what he got me:

Jim Thome signed baseball
yes, that is Jim Thome’s autograph..

at any rate, I may try to pop in and visit with y’all from the game but we might be otherwise occupied! Win Twins!

At least Babs and her family got to see some good pitching tonight.

However, I’ve done considerable research on the subject and have determined that winning a baseball game without scoring a run is highly unlikely.-

Happy birthday, anyway, Babs! – JC

GameChat – Rangers @ Twins #2, 7:10pm

So I’m actually a little disappointed but we have had a roster change in the opposition today – Yu Darvish who I would have liked to see pitch – pulled himself due to some sort of injury that I haven’t heard specified. Instead, Scott Baker – yes, THAT Scott Baker – gets to match himself up to a Twins starting rotation that once again, has the worst ERA in Major League Baseball with the numbers added by Mr. Nolasco last night.. So I wonder what Scotty is thinking tonight..

Let’s hope that Hughes can bring something better.

Well that was interesting, wasn’t it?

It wasn’t Phil Hughes’ best start of the year, but I’ll take 7 innings like that any time I can get it.

Oswaldo Arcia with a solo shot, that was nice. Joe Mauer with an RBI double that he PULLED to right field. Nice.

Glen Perkins gave up a lead off triple in the top of the 9th, but then slammed the door without allowing that runner to score.

Yet, here we were, watching the Twins, trailing by a run in the ninth inning and, despite having Arcia and Josh Willingham back with the team, we were still watching three shortstops playing the field for the Twins, including two of them in the outfield.

Thank goodness, huh?

Danny Santana’s bases-loaded squibber wasn’t pretty but it got Eduardo Nunez home. And that was only possible because Nunez performed a bit of acrobatics in avoiding a tag attempt by Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre. And that took place only after Nunez drove in Arcia with a game-tying RBI single.

That’s good enough for a Nunez BOD award.

Sunday Morning Comic Relief

The weather in Minnesota this weekend is EXACTLY why we say that summer begins on Memorial Day weekend. I means that anyone who CAN is spending this day outside somewhere.. I just hope that everyone remembers what tomorrow is about..  and maybe watch some baseball too.

GammeChat – Twins @ Giants #2, 9:05pm

I’m out for an early bday dinner with the in-laws so I may not make it back in time for first pitch and if some one else puts out the lineups, you’re really golden! ******** I’m not sure if I’ll be here during the game, but I at least got the lineups posted. Sounds like the Twins will be getting Willingham and Arcia back when they return to Minnesota, so things should get interesting with roster moves soon. – JC

More west coast interleague play.. I shouldn’t complain because the boys seem to be doing ok with that but yeah, any bets on whether I can stay awake the whole game? At least it’s Friday.

I hate to admit that this result was pretty predictable after the first inning actually… Sadly… but it was a good night to be stuck in the kitchen making party hor d’ouvres and mini cheesecake bites. Gotta love baby showers!

But let’s hope tomorrow fares a little better for baseball.

GameChat – Minnesota @ San Diego, 9:10pm

ah… the ever so draining west coast road trip… Hope no one has to be anywhere in the morning this week… oh you do? Pretty sure those of us actually make it to the end of these games will be solely responsible for keeping Caribou in business.

Of course, this is also interleague play!! Wonder if we’ll actually get to see any of our pitchers bat…

Lots of interesting performances for the Twins, including Kurt Suzuki’s inside the park home run that left the park.

But Jared Burton entered the game with 2 on and no outs and kept both runners exactly where they were when he took the mound. That was impressive. And he is our BOD.
