Two more guys from the minors are joining us for some time! Joe Benson & Chris Parmelee are getting to take some swings (I hope) and see what they can do against big league pitching… they hopefully will also do ok with some time in the field here and there but let’s face it – they are going to be a little raw here guys. Let’s keep our expectations in check. But they’re out there tonight so I hope they feel appropriately welcomed into Target Field!

As my fiance said, “congrats to the White Sox for beating the AAA Rochester Red Wings with assistance from AA New Britain Rock Cats…”
Yeah, it wasn’t a winning game but we knew who we were going to be seeing when the game started – a bunch of kids. Liam Hendriks took the mound with OBVIOUS nerves.. but he pulled it together and actually did a pretty good job. I can see that there is definite potential there because of his ability to compose himself even after he gave up a run… He really didn’t let things get to him and didn’t give the hitters much to work with. Definitely a pitcher to watch for the future!
Both Parmelee and Benson were making the most of their opportunities. Both made a couple bad decisions in fielding but as a whole were better than half their big league counterparts earlier this season and they had decent at bats and base running skills. It was a good effort from the kids but I still would have preferred a win in addition to the good effort.
